Had this been a competitive event then FIA European Pro Stock Champion Jimmy Ålund would have set a new European speed record of 203.80 mph. Andy Carter told us at the Press Call that the Lucas Oil / Landmeco-backed Top Fueller wouldn't be testing before the FIA Main Event, playing his cards close to his chest we guess. The rear slicks went up in smoke at the hit on Andy's only run today. That's what you get for fibbing. Micke Nord drove the second MSS Motorsport Pro Mod Mustang into the 6.3s. Leif Andréasson wasn't mucking about on today's last but one run when he ran an off-the-trailer 5.7 in his Top Methanol FC. Tim Blakemore told us that he has a new clutch on his Funny Bike and that the Kawasaki-backed team are working down from giving it too much to find the right setting. Gary Page put in a very strong launch in Kenneth Lorentzon's Fuel FC but you can see a cylinder out on the right which meant that the left bank was pushing the car towards the centreline. The very nice new paint on Jordan Keelan's Junior Dragster was applied by his dad. Joe Kellett pulled some 0.00 RTs, which are essential to qualify well in Junior Dragster. Junior Dragster racer Maja Udtian must have made the most runs today, she was hot-lapping at some points during the day. Jarmo Kuutniemi was another shake victim in his Top Methanol FC. Jonas Dantanus ran a six-second pass in his Pro Stock backing off early and with the 'chutes out before the traps. No reason to let everyone know how much you've got before the race starts... Ivan Birch ran into the 7.7s on his Funny Bike. Michael Malmgren's engine zinged after he clocked a 1.009 sixty foot time on his last pass in the Lahega-backed Pro Stock, hopefully no damage. Fred Hansen made several passes in his Super Comp Dragster, clocking one 8.9. It's all coming together very nicely fior Super Gas rookie Jon Giles who clocked his first 9.9 today. It was great to see Danny Cockerill back in his Pro Mod with a rebuilt engine; we were really worried that he was going to call it a day. We were quite impressed that Danny's header blast blew start line crew David Warren back over the guardrail. Paul Marston Racing team member Mick Pusey is at the wheel of the Whoopass Monza in Pro ET this weekend. Neil Midgley's Funny Bike developed a bit of an attraction for the other lane. Stuart Morrice was tweaking the Super Gas settings on the Morrice Boys Racing Camaro. Magnus Hansson went into the 6.8s in his Pro Stock, with wheelspin most of the way judging by the blackstriping. Bob Glassup pulled a huge burnout and then a 7.4 on his first outing in the ex-Gold RV Racing TMD, now a Super Pro ET dragster. Roger Johansson packs 830 ci in the #1 MSS Motorsport Pro Mod and ran into the 6.3s. Simon Rowland was again doing double duty in the Formula Tanker Rental Super Pro ET and Pro ET rails.
